Indirect questions, yani dolaylı sorular, direkt olarak soru cümlesi olarak kullanılmayan fakat bir soru içeren cümlelerdir. Dolaylı sorular genellikle bir dilek, istek veya öneri belirtirken kullanılırlar. Örnek olarak;
Direct question: What time is it? Indirect question: Can you tell me what time it is?
Direct question: How do I get to the train station? Indirect question: Do you know how to get to the train station?
Direct question: Have you seen my phone? Indirect question: I'm wondering if you've seen my phone.
Direct question: Will they be coming to the party? Indirect question: I'm not sure if they will be coming to the party.
Direct question: Why did she leave early? Indirect question: I'm trying to figure out why she left early.
